Anti-war protest - NYC, February 15, 2003. With the leadup to the imminent invasion of Iraq looming, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers took to the streets to voice their opposition to the unprecedented pre-emptive invasion. The intended destination of the demonstration was the United Nations building, however, for some reason, the protest organizers were not provided a permit. Therefore, an estimated two hundred thousand protesters attempted to reach the UN via the sidewalks. NYPD in full riot gear prevented the demonstrators from reaching the UN and tried to contain the crowds as they overflowed into the streets, overwhelming traffic.

Anti-war protest - NYC, March 22, 2003. As the bombs began dropping in the 'shock and awe' campaign on Bagdad, Iraq, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers took to the streets to voice their opposition to the unprecedented pre-emptive invasion.
